Coty the marathon runner - Top of Utah Marathon

I am the proud mother of a marathon runner. And not only a marathon runner, but a marathon runner who on his first marathon took first in his division and 39th out of 2500 people in the Top of Utah Marathon that was run in Logan, Utah. Holy Crap that is impressive. He ran the 26 miles in 3 hours 9 minutes and some odd seconds, which makes him a qualifier for the Boston Marathon in April. Now the question... will he really do the Boston? I guess there is always time for that. Until then, just bask in the glory of your success.

I also want to add that none of this would have been possible without his Aunt Cori. On one of her visits to Washington, she mentinoned that she was going to do this and Coty should sign up. Coty had always toyed with the idea of running a marathon and this was all the encouragement he needed. So how fun was that? Aunt and nephew running the marathon, AND FINISHING, together. Thanks Cori and Mark for helping take care of our boy while he was in Logan. And thanks to Grandma and Grandpa Thomas for driving all the way to Utah to support the runners. Between them all I got phone calls updating me on the runners progress. It was a lot of fun (but of course I wasn't running so I can say that :)

Mark took a picture with his iphone and emailed it to me. Here are the successful marathon runners. The two on the left a friends of Cori's and then of course Cori and Coty.

Notice Coty holding his trophy for taking first in his division. He also got $50.

That is so awesome- why didn't you run with him? I'd say it looks like fun but I'd be lying, just the thought of it is painful.
