23 years and counting

Well, yesterday was our 23rd wedding anniversary. All I can say is Wow! I know, you are dying to know how we spent it. Did we jet away to some tropical resort and to bask in each others adoring love? Or perhaps we rented a limo to take us to some secluded place on Mt. Rainier where dinner was served as we gazed into each others eyes. OR could it be we both got up and went our own ways... he taking our daughter to piano lessons then up to join some other youth on an outing while I took our 7 year old to my youth committee kick off. No but wait, there is more... we then met back at the house around 2 pm to clean cars, mow lawns and get ready to chaperone a youth dance that evening. Luckily we both saw the humor in it, and as the dance finished up and we were driving home, we did get a few moments to reminsce over the years we have shared together.

I can't say it has always been easy, but the thing I am most grateful for is that neither of us gave up, and it has been worth it. I think when you marry, you have this vision on what you think life should be like and how a "perfect" marriage should be. Then as reality strikes and you see that you not only didn't marry the "perfect" person, you find out that you are far from perfect yourself. Then you adjust, work to make things better and realize that being married makes you a better person because you have to change, actually you choose to change to make that other person happier. I am very appreciative of my husband and the hard worker he is. I am also grateful for the father he is to our children. I love him very much and look forward to the years ahead.

Happy Anniversary Lorri! Too bad about the tropical island thing, but I know you're doing what you're supposed to be. Sure admire you both.
