Air Quotes

So my daughter, Sidney who else, came down the stairs and began sharing some information with us. I actually don't even remember what she was saying, becaues it caught my eye that she kept throwing up "air quotes". You know, when you use your fingers to make quote marks around words you want emphasized.



Finally when she was done I asked her what it meant when she used her fingers to put quotes on a word. She said...

"you know, you do this (she made the quotes with her fingers) when you mean the opposite".

"You sure look "nice" today" actually means you look crummy.

We had a good chuckle, but then realized how many times has she told me

"sure mom, I "will do" my jobs".
